Rot at Diversworks!!

Hey everybody!
go see "Rot"
it is a great show!
I'm gonna try to see it at least once at every venue (may not make Austin...
and I'm bummed about it)

Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company and Bobbindoctin Puppet Theatre Present "The Best Original Show in 2007", touring Texas in 2008!

"Rot"

by John Harvey

"..a mini-festival of the willfully weird and woeful." ".. exudes enough despair to make the average Samuel Beckett outing look like Annie." ~Everett Evans , Houston Chronicle

"..the two companies together have created a smart, wildly literary piece of experimental theater the likes of which no Houstonian will see anywhere else this season. " - Lee Williams, Houston Press

Rot won 'Best Original Show' in The Houston Press in 2007 when the two companies collaborated on its premier in 2007. Now, for all of you unfortunate souls who missed it the first time, we are doing a remount of the production for our "Rotten to the Core" tour, beginning at Diverseworks January 17, 18 and 19, 2008, and traveling to other Texas Cities in February and March, such as Rude Mechanicals in Austin, and The Strand Theatre in Galveston.

What is Rot? A by Mildred's Umbrella resident playwright John Harvey. What is Rot? A collaboration between two of Houston's premier theater companies. What is Rot? A husband dying of the plague. What is Rot? A daughter who, after setting the world on fire and destroying the sun, comes home to find out what happened to her dog. What is Rot? Two gentlemen sitting in the front parlor in their underwear. What is Rot? Puppets in the furniture remembering what the family would like to forget. What is Rot? A happy death.

Featuring Jennifer Decker, Eric Doss and Patricia Duran, Joel Orr, Troy Schulze and Karen Schlag, Rot will entertain, unsettle and infect the dreams of Houston theatre-goers.

The production will also feature an original score by University of Houston Honors College student Meghan Hendley.

The show will premier at DiverseWorks, January 17, 18 and 19, 2008 at 8pm.

UNHINGED PRODUCTIONS "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead"

"A welcome antidote to the notion that the Peanuts gang provides merely a slice of American cuteness." —NY Times

When CB's dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group's bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful.

Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm February 29 - March 22. Silver House Theatre Tickets: $20 Discounts are available for seniors, students and groups of 10 or more. Free preview February 28th at 8pm.

Firedoglake - Firedoglake weblog » The Polls You Won’t Hear Much About

2) John Edwards is by far the Democrats' strongest candidate in the general election. He is the only one who is not beaten outright by any Republican candidate: He ties with Giuliani at 44% each, but easily beats McCain, Thompson, Romney, and Huckabee, the latter two by double-digit margins.

I would never have thought that this would be an argument I could make for a candidate I support.

The Blotter: Oil Crisis As Barrels Go Missing, According to Audit

How do you not notice when 308,000 barrels of oil go missing?

Incompetent or criminal?
if we had real journalists in this country eventually we'd find out.
I, however, am not holding my breath.

Dr. Frankenstein, I presume?
