insomnia
I'm a prime candidate for Lunesta.
(which scares the hell out of me, by the way, the drug itself,
not that I'm a candidate for it...)
Woke up at 4:30 and by 4:35 I'd allowed myself
to think about "the adding machine" and,
well then there was no stopping it...
and now I have to get in the shower to
get ready for work...
so yeah, I've started work on "the adding machine"...
by work I mean reading it over and over and making lots of notes...
I'm talking to a few folks I'd like to have on the production team,
and I'm eyeing towards putting it up during the next real break I have,
and I have no idea when that will be...or where we'll do it...
although I'd love to get a cast pinned down for a public reading on May Day.
and Charlie and I are thinking about taking "Hamletmachine" and making a Last Bastions album from it...
I've only talked to a possible "Ophelia" so far, but Charlie asked me about it again
yesterday, so hopefully I'll pin her down soon and find our Hamlet too...
anyway, I'm off to the shower so I can go file.
got my friend john's car right now or I'd already be on the bike
and on my way...

Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
I knew they'd never show it:
Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.:
"If you don’t want to register for the New York Times, then I’ll sum it up quickly. Showtime saw the episode, they freaked out, and they decided not to show it. Considering it’s Miike, that shouldn’t really surprise anyone. Hell, when I was talking to Stuart Gordon about the show before anyone had actually started shooting, I asked him which one would be the craziest, and he started laughing. “Oh, Miike. No question. American TV is just not ready.” Turns out Stuart’s prescient, because American TV indeed does not appear to be ready."
If you wonder how I knew throw "Visitor Q" or "Audition" into yr netflix queue...

National Gorilla Suit Day
National Gorilla Suit Day:
For Melissa:
"National Gorilla Suit Day, which mysteriously falls on January 31 of each year, is perhaps the important holiday of the year. Every National Gorilla Suit Day, people of all shapes and colors around the world get their gorilla suits out of the closet, put them on and go door-to-door."

what do I do here?
sometimes I just link to some political story with little or no comment...
it keeps me from e-mailing it to all my friends...
some of them got tired of that.
and more and more I just write...
some of it is true
and some of it is me
and some of it's malarkey
eventually I'm gonna dig through a lot of these fragments
and try to make some dialogue of it,
or see if there are any snippets
I can save
or whatever...
sometimes I waste everybody's time
trying to justify
and explain
what I'm doing here

you wanna know
you wanna know,
you really wanna know
what I believe?
I believe
knowledge informs perception
EVERYTHING is subjective
and words refer to words.
I believe the children are our future...
that's why I both hate and pity them.
I believe my job is making me crazy.
BWOOOHAHAHAHAHA!
I believe I am capable of great things.
Believing this sincerely means I don't
have to prove anything,
so why bother?
I believe I have to go to bed
now so I can get up and work
on my filer's tan in the mornin'

yeah... uh, so...
when I say
I don't believe
in regret
what I mean is,
I'm not saying,
I don't mean to say
that I don't believe
regrets exist
or even that I don't
(cause I do
yes I do),
that I don't
have them.
if I had a grain of sand
for every lost opportunity
I'd have a nice sandbox
at the very least
and I
could fill
a gallery
with pictures of lips
left unkissed
a library
of words unspoken...
what I guess I mean is, well,
it's just not
very productive,
is it?

Warrenellis.com In Search Of The Next
Warrenellis.com In Search Of The Next: "Last night I watched a bit of an old documentary about rave culture, BETTER LIVING THROUGH CIRCUITRY, wherein Genesis P-Orridge talks about putting together his pseudonymous early acid house project, Jack The Tab.
I was amused to note that the label on the first pressing had a John Byrne Superman drawing on it. Hard to imagine anyone less acid than John Byrne."
I had that record...
I liked it, but then psychic TV was the first show I ever saw at the axiom.
The Pain Teens opened up, making them the first local band I ever saw...
actually that's not true, I saw Sprawl and probably some others at the perpetual park party the year before and had seen the judy's at astroworld - but the pain teens were the first ones to make me think about doing it myself for real...
and they kicked psychic tv's ass...
this is of course completely irrelevant to what mr. ellis has to say in this post...and it's good...so go read it.
"And, you know, it’s entirely possible that Devendra Banhart has enough things in common with Connor Oberst that we are in fact on a journey into the future that ends in a bedroom stinking of cheap beer and incense with tear-stained wankrags under the bed and a copy of Johnathan Livingstone Seagull on the floor."

Mia Culpa: No paradise by the dashboard lights of the cars that children call "home"
Mia Culpa: No paradise by the dashboard lights of the cars that children call "home": "“We could request it, but we couldn’t mandate it. That’s what is holding that process up,” he told members of the Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee."
We have an administration that has no problem cutting through red tape in order to eavesdrop on American citizens, but won't cut through red tape in order to help American citizens devastated by a natural disaster.
Think about the priorities and values of these people for a moment, won't you?
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said “bureaucratic nonsense” and a lack of manpower also appear to be contributing to the delays.
“Five months later, there should not be children living in cars. There should not be people without trailers,” she told Russo.

COMICON.com: BILL MUMY FROM TV TO LOST IN SPACE OGN
COMICON.com: BILL MUMY FROM TV TO LOST IN SPACE OGN: "THE PULSE: When did you first start thinking about writing your own comics?
MUMY: Well, like a lot of kids I used to write and draw my own comic books when I was a kid on the set of Lost in Space. 'Captain Panther and the Fox', 'The Comb', 'The Daredevils'... but I started writing real comics for Marvel in 1986 with the Comet Man. A six issue series that I wrote with Miguel Ferrer. It sold over half a million books."
I need to find this,
And read more about Miguel Ferrer's comic book career.

Chron.com | Anti-DeLay ad surfaces on cable, liberal Web sites:
"WASHINGTON - The four Houston television stations that sold airtime for a commercial criticizing U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay refused to air it Wednesday after objections from a DeLay lawyer, but the ad was accessible on cable channels and the Internet."
So I remember having arguments with conservative friends as far back as high school where eventually they would say, "free speech isn't free."
Well hell, now you apparently can't even buy it.
Go "liberal" media!
