happy new year?

so...
I was biking home from a party NY's eve and was assaulted...
I was riding down wheeler, and as I got to 288 I heard someone running up behind me...
trusting guy that I am I slowed down, and then starting getting punched...
I was hit 3 - 5 times. I immeadiately starting to tell the guy to take what he wanted, of course, being drunk I wasn't even thinking to get off the bike - so I just stood there and took the punches. When I regained consciousness my bike, phone and glasses were gone.

I made my way towards main st. yelling the entire time,"I've been attacked, please help, call 9-1-1." nobody stopped, nobody helped.
I one point I was standing in the middle of the street trying to flag down cars. I yelled at three guys in their car when they stopped at a light. they wouldn't even look my direction.
eventually I made it to Main St. and one of the rail stations - walked down the line and finally the third pay phone worked. I called 9-1-1. They kept asking where I was (shouldn't they have known?)...finally figured it out and an ambulance was on the way...

there's a lot more to the story - how the guy who did my cat scan thought the guy who hit me was trying to kill me from the damage done and the fact that he was only hitting me in the nose. How the ambulance guys were asking me if I wanted to go to the hospital, "I'm not a doctor. I don't know. You tell me. All I know is I just had the crap beat out of me. What is the other option? I walk home bleeding?" - how I told them I didn't have insurance and still they took me to 12 oaks not ben taub. The only other folks I saw waiting in the emergency room there were in cuffs. Once again it took me being hospitalized for my parents to talk to each other.

Ultimately nothing was broken - I'm just bloodied and bruised and tired and doped up on hydrocodone.

happy new year?

Look at it this way... it's bound to be all uphill from there, right?

Sorry to read about the shitty way you get to mark an arbitrary calendar change. If you need we have a spare bike and cell phone you are more than welcome to have The bike might be a little girly but is in good working condition as is the phone, though the phone is unisex.

Send an email to a(twenty-three use the #'s)romero at the gmail address or just get my number/email from any of the 2 degree separated friends we share.

Call me racist if you like (I'm really a classist), but the assailant was black, right?
