RIP, Thomas M Disch - Boing Boing:
"The Disch I prefer to remember was no nicer than that, but much smarter: a brittle and brilliant ironist with a bright wit and no optimism whatsoever."

Mike, were you a fan of his work? I didn't think I had ever met someone who really liked his style.
How you are well.
I liked Camp Concentration and I think I would like to track down some of his poetry. Someone suicide is just a topic that I keep running across - in art and in the news. I am particularly interested in the connections between anger and suicide and it seems like Disch was an angry, angry man...
that should have read somehow suicide - not someone suicide -
damned mornings...
No, I agree with you on his anger. I don't think you can write what he wrote and then go kiss babies, eat candy, and giggle!
generally, I'm with Johnny Rotten - Anger is an energy - I think it is more productive than sadness. Most of my favorite people are angry types. Just recently I spent a good amount of time enraged and began to really enjoy - i was becoming addicted to anger - and as fun as it was at points it was also exhausting and i had to do some work on cutting it out... but i can't imagine anger coupled with the kind of despair that leads to suicide.
