Dance Preview

Join us at Helios on July 14 for a sneak preview of Transistor, a multi-media, modern dance performance conceived by Aileen Mapes and produced by Spacetaker. Transistor will be performed in downtown Houston this fall and projected on multiple downtown skyscrapers so that this event will be truly public.

The July 14th event at Helios offers a full evening of entertainment, featuring a live performance of Leif Moore's original score for Transistor, with Moore on piano, Kayte Covin on flute and alto sax, Alex Jones on tenor sax, and Howard Parker on trombone. Upcoming scenes from Transistor will be screened as well.

Also premiering this evening is Laura Harrison's film of Inside Out, a dance commissioned by Spacetaker for its 2005 gala at Lester Marks' home. Choreographed by Mapes, Inside Out stars Daniel Adame, Jesse Harper, Luisa Stainback, Aileen Mapes, and Melissa Winter. Different Kind of Monkey and Mike Switzer created the film's musical soundtrack.

Transistor is funded in part by the Mayor's Office through the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County.
