This speech by Al Gore that (Chet from Miscellaneous Heathen points us too) is so good it makes me wish he had run for President.
Oh wait.
He did.
It makes me wish he won.
Oh wait.
He did.
Remind me again why we haven't had a revolution?

Yeah, I loved that speech too... but you know one big reason I believe he didn't win, aside from all the shenanigans? I.e. why he didn't pull ahead with a greater margin so there wasn't even a question about it? Because he restrained himself too much when trying to run for president... if he'd shown then even HALF the passion for government he's shown since that time, I'd have been sure he was IT... of course, it's probably easier to say that now with the benefit of hindsight, and being able to see just how bad things have gotten with the way they went, but still... he was emotionally dead when he was a candidate, and now that he's not he's kicking ass! Damn...

Complacency and fear of change...

Look, we have needed (yes, needed) a Constitutional Convention. Why has it not occurred? Simply put, because the entire Constitution could be trashed in favor of a wholly new document. The fear of the change, based on whomever happens to be in control at the time, is enough that change in the manner in which we are discussing will not or cannot occur.

Lest we forget…this country, not those participating in blogs or conversations like this one, tends to be led by the lowest common denominator principle. Find a way to instill fear and find someone else at fault for your shortcomings…

I think I will shut up now just because I will really get going if I keep this up. It is not a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon - all frustrated and irritated.

the reason we haven't had a revolution thus far is that when we've gotten close the harsh realities of capitalism have been blunted by liberal programs.
The kinds of programs bushco are dead set on gutting...
VIVE LE PRESIDENTE!
