Doom Patrol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doom Patrol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"In Morrison's final storyline, it was revealed that the Chief had caused the 'accidents' which turned Cliff, Larry Trainor and Rita Farr into freaks with the express intention of creating the Doom Patrol. He also unleashed nanobots into the world, hoping to create a catastrophe which would make the world a stranger and more wonderful place. However, Caulder did not anticipate being decapitated by the Candlemaker."

Here's what I don't understand...
at the end of this new teen titans issue, the doom patrol learns the chief created them, intentionally caused the "accidents" which made them into tortured heroes, and they don't kill him, imprison him, or even beat the crap out of him... They make him not the boss anymore, and Changeling says something like, "I think he means well." - fuck that. Man's a super-villian plain and simple and he needs to be stopped before he makes more self-pitying monsters, right? Somebody makes me a robot against my will they're getting their head bashed in... that's all I'm sayin'.

On the other hand, it is a time honored tradition for superheroes to spend some time on the dark side, but then to come back to the side of good, totally forgiven. Marvel Girl, a.k.a. Phoenix destroyed an entire race, but somehow made it back into Professor Xavier's good graces. Snapper Carr sold out the Justice League to the Joker in the late 60s; it took like three decades, but he eventually came back as Hour Man's sidekick in the 90s. Isn't Mordru a good guy now in the Legion of Superheroes book?

How much longer before Osama bin Laden embraces free markets and runs for President with the GOP?

Oh, wait, bin Laden's not really a supervillain. I keep forgetting.

As I understood it, that had something to do with the reset that happened when some Superboy something or other bashed against the walls of the reality causing a bunch of changes, including one of the Robins coming back to life... because in the previous Doom Patrol, when they first learned that Caulder had created them, they really DID go apeshit on him... they couldn't stop him, because of course he was too smart to allow them to kill or imprison him, but he got his when he got decapitated and became a head in a tray of ice... I guess this new version of their reaction to this news was created by the Superboy guy's reality-bashing... from what I sort-of-but-not-really understand...

Damn complicated comics...

Basically the byrne reboot of doom patrol is outta continuity now, and the rest of doom patrol continuity is back in (more or less)... Hopefully in we'll learn more about what's in and what's out soon...
I'm curious about the doom patrol now, and interested in the morrison run for sure...
but I still don't understand them not kicking the chief's ass this time around.
